Happy Birthday Meg!
A big happy 21st birthday to teh_girl (AKA Meg).

Yes just another week till my next vacation. Whee! That is if I can survive this week at work. Blah! Had a pain in the ass case today which was all injectable type drugs…really weird stuff too…so you can bet it was just a joy to analyze. Made the day go by quite fast but that wasn’t really worth it.
On a totally un-related note I’ve started watching ‘Intervention’ on A&E Sunday nights. Talk about a messed up idea for a tv show. Let’s find people with crippling addictions, lie to them and tell them they are on a show about addiction when really their family and friends are planning an intervention to try and get them help. Past episodes had a guy on Coke who lost his house and job and everything and a girl who was on Meth and really messed up. Last night though it was Gambling (Yawn, plus the gut just pissed me off) and Shopping Addiction. But what was really funny was the commercial right after the shopping addiction segment was for a big sale on shoes and showed a woman “needing” to buy a pair of shoes that were calling to her. Only thing that could of made it funnier is if there was an add for Foxwoods right after to tie in with the Gambling addiction guy. Does enjoying their misery make me bad? Do I care?

So ok, I’m a few days late but I’ve been lazy. Val came to visit this past weekend which was nice. We finally got to exchange Christmas Gifts (and a birthday gift for me). The big Christmas/birthday gift was that she got tickets for the two of us to see Avenue Q this summer, here in NYC. She’s really wanted to see it for some time and so do I so it’s sort of a double gift, one for me and one she got for her self. So W00T for naughty puppets on Broadway.
Work this past week has been just a little crazy. What with pain in the ass cases and rapid deadlines its been just a little hectic. Doesn’t help any that I have to work Saturday too. Foo! At least it’s supposed to be a dark and rainy day all Saturday, that makes it a tad easier to have to work inside all day (As opposed to a day like today which was just taunting me through the windows all day). Oh well, just another few weeks to survive and then it’s vacation time! So that’s something to look forward to.

Being that today was supposed to be so nice, and that I have been working way too much OT for the last 2 weeks, I decided to take the day off of work today. It was nice just to sleep in for a change just for starters. And after being a bum for most of the morning I decided to go into the city for the day. Started off by going to see Sin City down at the Union Square theater. I thought it was a really good movie but really, REALLY violent/bloody. I mean after seeing Kill Bill I thought that, that had been the ultimate movie for blood and flying body parts, until now that is. It’s like they watched Kill Bill and said, well that was bloody but we can do better. I mean, lets just say it had me cringing in some parts and that really takes a lot. Most definitely not one to bring the kids to hehe.
After that I went to bum around The Strand (huge used book store). That place is just too big. I tend to just wonder around zombie like till something catches my eye. I’ve been there 3 or 4 times already and probably have seen less then 20% of it. Even so I managed to find a few books that looked promising if not just a bit odd. One was “Damage Land” which bills it self as a collection of “New Scottish Gothic Fiction” the little bits I skimmed through looked cool, if not odd. Never know just what you will find at that place. Some day I have to take a trip there and spend a few hours giving it a good looking over.
After that I stooped and found perhaps the perfect present for teh_girl! No I can’t say what it is because she reads this, so you all will just have to wait till after her B-day (April 26) to find out. But suffice to say its geeky and odd as you might expect, hence perfect!
I had a quick lunch at Cosi’s and then bummed around the Virgin Mega Store for a bit before calling it a day. All in all it was a lot more fun then I would of had at work
and really nice weather to boot.
As for the rest of the weekend my friend from CT, Valerie, is coming to visit tomorrow so that should be fun. (Yes, Meg knows and doesn’t mind). No idea what we are going to do but might venture into the city or something, just have to wait and see.

So I think nippy is suffering from cave addiction. I haven’t seen her come out of it for like a week. So tonight I finally pulled her out of there, which she was just THRILLED about, and made her be social for a little bit. Whats the point of having a pet if you can’t pester it from time to time.
She seems to be fine though, a tad off maybe because she has to shed, but otherwise seemed fine. Which is good because later this week she has to take a little trip. Apparently the people in one of the downstairs apartments were less then clean and my landlord said he saw a few bugs in there as he was cleaning out the place. He said that no one else has seen any but to be safe he wants to bug-bomb the place this week. But I can’t have nippy in the apartment when he does it obviously. At first I was a little worried because he didn’t exactly know I had a pet and the lease sorta says no snakes but he really didn’t care at all, and was totally cool about helping me figure out what to do with her. So some time later this week, before I leave for work, Nippy will go into her plastic deli container with some newspaper and stuff and one of the people in the next building who is friends with my landlord (and sorta of the assistant super when Kevin isn’t around) will take her and keep her at his apartment for the day till I get home and can air out the place a little. Which is good because the other option was going to be for me to take her to work, which I am sure would of just over joyed some of my co-workers.
Speaking of work stuff is getting back to normal (well normal for there) after my vacation. And by that I mean I’m working way too many hours. Got to love that OT. Sadly nothing too interesting lately though. We seem to go through phases where we will get a bunch of cool cases in with in a week or two period and then go a few months with just boring normal stuff. So come on you druggies…lets see some creativity out there so I don’t get bored!
