Mmmmm….I just have to share that Hershey’s Chocolate-Mint candy canes rock!
Oh yah and in response to a question from a co-worker, no my tree isn’t real, I got it last year from the Family Dollar, for a 20$ tree is doesn’t look half bad.

Oooo lookie…I put up my Christmas tree today:

The star came from a yard sale, the box looks older (60s or 70s) but it worked fine and was only a dollar.
Speaking of only a dollar yesterday when my parents dropped me off we stopped in the “Lucky 99c gift shop”, little store down the street from me. I got a nifty wooden crocodile puzzle/model thing.

It was a tad difficult to put together because there was all of 4 instructions and numbered diagram had a few mistakes but as you can see it came out nice, well nice enough for a dollar puzzle.
Now it’s time to make dinner.
Mmmm…. »« Post Thanksgiving
Well I am back in NYC after a few days back home in Hartford for Turkey Day. My dad had to work tomorrow so they brought be back today, which is just as well in that it gives me all of tomorrow to relax and the like before going back to work on Monday. Having the long weekend was very nice, not because I didn’t have to get a ride back Friday morning like I originally though I would have to, but mostly because I got to see Jenn and eat much Turkey and Pie!
Dinner it self was the usually mix of craziness and a lot of food but it all went quite well. And then on Friday Jenn drove down from NH to visit for the day. We went out to lunch at ION in Middletown and then went to see “Walk the Line” (the Johnny Cash movie) which was really good. Though if you some how don’t already know who Johnny Cash is then it’s probably not the movie for you.
Ok off to relax for the rest of the night, the parents and I stopped at the Glendale Diner for lunch and I am quite full and sleepy now.
ps. Cherry Hershey’s Kisses Rock!

Going to start password protecting some of my posts. Don’t really want to but I think it’s the best solution to keep some of the stuff I post a bit more private and still be able to vent about certain things as needed. If you think you should have the password but don’t let me know and I will see what I can do.
Post Thanksgiving »« hum…or not…
So after my little rant the other day about work I go to work Friday and turns out it was all moot after all…but not for the reasons I thought. My supervisor comes by on Friday and said that next time I have to put my request in earlier but that she was allowed to approve my request. Now at first I was thinking it was when I was asking for Wednesday off, but turns out it was for my Friday request. So W00T on that! So with Friday off and not having to work that Saturday I get a uber long holiday weekend! So now, for those that care, the plan is to take the train home after work Wednesday and then mooch a ride back to NYC on Sunday. So woo hoo for that.
The plan for this weekend, now that I don’t have to go thanksgiving dinner shopping is probably some random errands today (drugstore, haircut, and maybe the wine store to see if they have the Beaujolais Nouveau’s in yet, it is after the third Thursday in November after all). I also really ought to clean the kitchen, even though I won’t be having guests anymore for next week it is still a mess and cluttered.
Exciting I know!
Passwords… »« Work…
Work was blah. Still on the computer project thing I have been doing all week. Only thing that kept me sane today was the Audio Book version of Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys that I….um…found on the internet. Yah that will do. It’s the unabridged version so it’s the same as the hardcover that I bought (and sent to Meg). With out that I likely would of gone nuts. Speaking of going nuts even though I didn’t have much a chance of getting it I put in a request for next Friday off (the day after Thanksgiving) a long shot but can’t hurt to ask right? Well I filled out my request form and gave to to my supervisor, then after lunch she tells me that they wouldn’t even take the form. Now had the reason given be that it was simply because I didn’t have a chance in hell of getting it approved because so many other people had put in requests already or something that would of been fine. But instead the reason given was that it had to be submitted more then 5 days in advance to be considered. Now mind you today is Thursday and the day I wanted off was next Friday. Even counting only working days and the like, today would of still be with in the 5 days. I mean really, if you are going to create a random and arbitrary rule to base your decisions on at least stick to it to give the mere appearance of, well caring. Again I would of bitched even more about it then I did if I though there was a chance of actually getting the day off anyway. Since I was moot I let it drop, though I did request Wednesday off. One so I would be home in Hartford for more then just Turkeyday before getting driven back Friday morning so I could get to work, and two so hopefully Jen could make it down from NH for a little visit. Hopefully THIS request will work out for me, so keep your fingers crossed.

Back home in my NYC appt. Whee! Airport sucked. Both Flights were over booked, though I almost spent the night in Atlanta. They were looking for people at one point to take the flight tomorrow at 655am in exchange for 400$ in Delta Air Dollars, a Hotel for the night and dinner/breakfast meal vouchers. I offered but in the end they fit us all on. Pitty but just as well I guess. Finally got in and got my bags. Took a cab home, had a great cab driver at that. He was cool, and knew a better way to get me home, especially since the Van Wick has been closed last few nights or something half assed like that. WTF?
Anyway tis bed time now. I will unpack most my stuff tomorrow, though thanks to Meg’s grandparents house having a washer and drier almost all my stuff in my suitcase is clean! So WOOT for no laundry!
Ok…to bed…

Right now I am sitting in the Atlanta Airport waiting for my flight into JFK. I started off in Jacksonville and took a short flight from there to here. Sort of a pain in the ass but was the only way to get from there to back home tonight at a reasonable price. stupid air travel! At least I had time between flights to get some crapy expensive airport food, I don’t think I will be in the mood to make anything when I get home tonight. Not to mention that my flight isn’t due to get in till 1030 or so, and by the time i get my luggage and take a taxi home it will probably be 11:00 or 11:30 if im lucky.
Jacksonville and getting to see the girl was alot of fun like always. We went back to St. Augustgine, saw a few movies (“Chicken Little” and “Good Night and Good Luck”), and did some random shopping and stuff around Jacksonville. Mostly it was just getting to spend time together, as much as we could. It was sad to have to leave, both because I have to leave meg in FL and that I have to go to work tomorrow.
Will probably just post this when I get home, If I feel up to it. There is Wi-FI here at the airport but its like 8$ and seeing as I will be here at most an hour it’s really not worth it.
Should be boarding soon, or so I hope. Guess I shall shut this down and get ready to go.
Home…whee… »« Free neighbors Wi-Fi and Surprise for Meg.
I am sitting in Meg’s house at the moment leaching off her neighbors wireless signal. She had to go to class (had 2 classes and a test today). She wanted to skip but I wouldn’t let her. She skipped her class yesterday and her boss was nice enough to let her out of work for this week. We didn’t do too much yesterday, went to see Chicken Little (as you could guess it was her choice
. Movie was actually alright, for you know, Chicken Little. Because of her class schedule today we really couldn’t do much more then run out to the store so we could make breakfast stuff, she wanted to cook for me. (aww I know) Tomorrow we may go back to St. Augustine for the day. We went there last time I visited in March but didn’t see everything in that one day so we though it would be fun to go back.
Just a little more detail on the surprise for those that are interested. About a month ago I was able to get this Wednesday and Thursday off of work (we had Tuesday and Friday off already). Once I had the time off I called her mother and was able to set up a surprise visit. Her mom picked me up at the airport on tuesday and took me to her grandparents house (which is like 3 houses down from her house and furnished but empty of people until they move down at the end of the year.) Meg though she was going with her mom to this Italian restaurant for some dinner her Mom’s work was throwing. I was there before hand, in our booth in the back hiding behind a menu. When her mom led her back there, she was expecting to see people from her moms work, instead I lowered the menu and revealed Me! Needless to say after a minute or so of happy, shiny confusion, she was quite pleased and we had a nice romantic dinner that her mom paid for (before leaving the two of us alone at the restaurant).
So yah that’s been my week so far. The surprise was A LOT of fun and I really owe much thanks to her Mom for setting most of this whole thing up, would of been really hard for me to try to do it on my end. Now that I can pilfer internet access from her house, can’t get any signal from her grandparents house where I am staying, I will try and update some more, and will definitely post some pictures from St. Augustine, otherwise I will just be enjoying my time off and waiting for Meg to get back from school.

In my last post I lied so I could fool the girl (aka meg). Right now I am in FL having surprised her by visiting with out her knowing. Thanks to help from her mom in setting alot of it up. Will post more later but needless to say she was very surprised and happy!
yay for Florida and the girl.

Just couldn’t sleep. Figures I get one day this weekend to sleep in and I am up at the crack of dawn. I made up for it by dragging my sleepy self out in the fog and getting some everything bagels. Mmmm…
Work yesterday was alright for work. I am just glad this is going to be a short week, we have Friday off for Veterans Day. In theory we have election day Tuesday off too but they asked for volunteers to come in so I figured I may as well go in, I get time and a half plus 7 hours of comp time to use later. I still plan to vote, probably on my way home. The voting place is the school at the end of my street so its really easy. As for Friday, I am thinking about a long weekend trip back up to CT. Leave Thursday after work sort of thing and come back Sunday. Still have to call home and talk to my Mom and see what if anything they have planned and stuff.
Wow this is a boring entry…ah well….some day when I am world famous and they make a movie based on my life they can cut these parts out if they need to save time

From a Washington State Department of Healt information pamphlet:
Warning Signs of Living Near a Lab
· Strong odor of solvents
· Residences with windows blacked out
· Iodine- or chemical-stained bathroom or kitchen fixtures
· Renters who pay their landlords in cash
· Increased activity, especially at night
· Excessive trash
Um soooo…..does that mean that all of NYC could be a meth lab? Not that it would surprise me or anything.
