So I spent my birthday in a room with 300+pounds of marihuana. One would think that in such a situation I would have had more fun but not as such. Just a lot of heavy lifting which is less then fun but all part of the exciting life of a criminalist.
Not much else has gone on this week. Meg went home Sunday
which was sad as always. Next vacation is in May and hopefully I will get to go to FL this time. FL in May is Nice! Was easy enough to get back into the swing of things at work but still harsh having to get up early after a week of sleeping late and doing nothing.
Also decided to join Netflix today, been wanting to see a number of movies I never manage to catch in the theaters and since I am a movie geek to begin with I think I can make good use of it. ALready have a number of movies in my queue…really an odd assortment and am looking forward to my first ones hopefully this weekend.
Well thats all for now I suppose…going to enjoy a little birthday pretzel and drink while watching My Name Is Earl and The Office…then sleep!
Shop Smart…shop S-Mart »« back in NYC with Meg…
Well we are back in NYC. Visit to CT was nice. You can see the pictures from Boston on the pictures page. We got to see many fish and penguins (even naughty penguins, it is spring after all).
Anyway just a quick update, the girl is taking a nap (she gets grumpy if she doesn’t get her nap). No idea for sure what we will do with the rest of the week, have a few ideas for stuff to see but nothing too set, just plan to play it by ear.
You would think I would have more fun »« Meg is here!
Yes, Meg has arrived. I picked her up this morning from the airport, though sadly did not pick up her luggage. Seems they misplaced her bag which was quite unfortunate but according to their website it has been found and they will deliver it to us tonight so we are staying put at my appt till it shows up. Still plan to hit CT Sunday and Boston on Monday. So while the lost bags were a shaky start, everything seems to be working out in the end.
Tonight since we are waiting for bags will be pizza and a movie here….which after a semi-stressful morning sounds like a good plan to the both of us.

until Meg gets here! W00T! I have all of next week off too for her visit. Sunday we are heading to CT and then plan to go visit Boston with my parents on Monday. No other major plans for the week, going to try and do some New York things…finally do one of the art museums and maybe see the “Bodies” exhibit at South Street Sea Port.
Other than that not much exciting been going on, just waiting for teh_girl to get here and work.
On the work front had to go to court today, typical case/testifying. Got there, waited a few hours, went on the stand and was questioned by the ADA…but before the defense got their turn the judge called for lunch so I had to go and eat instead of just going back to work so I could go back for another 10 minutes on the stand. Pointless. But thats the court system for you, at least lunch was good…had a chicken gyro from a cart…really good one too.
One more day….leaving early tomorrow to do laundry and just out of principle since it’s my last day before vacation.

Today was day two. Went about the same as day 1. Got there, went up to the court room. This time though I got called as one of the 14 to go sit in the jury box and be questioned. Went through all the questions from the sheet and then like yesterday the ADA and Defense atty. asked us some individual questions. Then we all went out in the hallway and waited for them to decide who they wanted to keep or not. Seems they weren’t too keen on having a forensic scientist on their jury because I wasn’t picked. Surprise Surprise! We went back to the main jury room where we were the first day and sat around for 20 minutes till we were finally told that we were done (for 6 years no less) and that we could go. So yay for being done with jury duty. The ironic thing is that the lab called on my way home and that seems the ADA who had wanted me to testify on Tuesday now wants me for Thursday so depending on what happens when I go in tomorrow it could be BACK to the same Queens court building.
…well….at least I know where it is right?
