Christmas Day Wrap up.

Well Christmas is over for yet another year. The girl and I drove up to Connecticut to do Christmas with my family. This was the first Christmas we could celebrate together in person so that made it extra nice.

Christmas with the family was nice. Meg really liked seeing the dog and cats again. We also went out Christmas Eve and saw “The Good Shepherd” which was alright, a bit confusing and too long but it was free so we can’t complain much.

Today was a lot of fun. We all opened presents this morning, I got most of the stuff on my list as well as a few surprises (George Forman grill from Chelsea, 1980 coin proof set from my uncle, and some cool “natural” wood pencils and pens from Ben.) Meg got like 4 journals, a nice scarf and gloves, and a slue of other little odds and ends from my family. Needless to say everyone had a great time and loved everything we got (ohh yah mom got me this 1.00 plastic glow in the dark skeleton that I put together today and is really cool). After presents we had a nice ham dinner and relaxed for a bit before heading back here to NYC (only because I have to work tomorrow….foo).

Still as crazy as the weeks leading up to it may of been this has been a great Christmas all around!

Visiting

Meg’s dad and step mom are still visiting. Yesterday they went to the Natural History Museum here in NYC. They actually made it there on their own, though with some subway mix ups. I left work early to meet them there. We had fun looking at the dinosaurs and stuffed animals and such. After I took them down to the famous Lombardis Pizza, which is supposed to be the first pizza place in the US. They still use a coal fired oven and the pizza was REALLY good. Have to make a point of going there more often. Tonight is their last night here, they are going into the city again to sight see and then tonight coming back to the appt. where we will do Christmas gifts and I am taking them out to dinner at the German place around the corner from where we live. Honestly for all my bitching about it their visit hasn’t been so bad, for me at least. I know Meg isn’t too pleased because they have been giving her a hard time about not finding a job yet, but I keep reminding her that if anyone should say any thing it’s me and since I don’t hassle her about it she shouldn’t let them bother her about it either.

Ok safety video time here at work…envy me!

More early Christmas

This morning started out bad, my poor Meg isn’t feeling good. She was up sick at like 6am and while she’s better now she’s still not anywhere near 100% but she will live.

The early christmas part came when we got a package from her Grandmother Freeman with Christmas presents for the both of us. Meg got a card with money and a nice pajama set. I got one of those really cool induction flashlights (the ones yah shake) and a little mini RC car. Whee! I love geek presents! :)

Rest of today I have been mostly straightening up a bit, did laundry and am going to run out to the store soon. Hopefully Meg will be feeling better tomorrow so we can go and finish our christmas shopping. We don’t have a ton of stuff left to get but I need a few odds and ends for my parents and Meg. I am also going to try my hand at making some fudge this weekend to bring to the little Christmas party we are having in the Hair and Fiber section on monday. Mom makes the Chocolate Peanut butter fudge every year for christmas but I have only tried making it once before so if things end up going wrong people will be getting twinkies come Monday! :)

Back from Christmas in Florida

We are back from our Christmas in Fl! We had a lot of fun visiting with Meg’s family and doing some early christmas stuff. We flew down last Thursday and visited with her Grandparents until her Mom got home. Friday we went shopping with her mom, we had to get some gifts for her family still. Then that night her sister and sisters fiancée came down to visit with us as well. Saturday we did a little more shopping and went to see Casino Royale again with her mom, sister, and grandparents, but it was such a good movie I didn’t mind seeing it for a second time. That night Meg’s mom and step dad had a christmas party to go to so we ran out to get her mom a christmas present and then went back to her grandparents house and hung out with them and her sister. We had pizza and champaign and played a fun newish domino game her grandparents taught us called “Chicken foot”. We had a lot of fun and Meg has a lot of champaign ;) . Sunday we did Christmas and Christmas dinner with her family. Had prime rib and mashed potatoes at megs request. Then we did presents. I got 2 williams-sonoma gift cards to get some nifty kitchen stuff with, some nice cologne. Meg got a really nice art set that they are going to ship up to us, a card making set, and some clothing. All together a really nice day. Today we had to fly out at 5 (Originally I thought it was 7, oopse) but we still had time to go to the Jacksonville, Zoo with her mom and grandparents. Was a nice zoo, not as nice as NY but what do yah expect. Pictures will be going up shortly, got a few nice ones of the animals.

But now we are home, tired, but its good to be back home as much fun as FL was.

At the airport again…

The girl and I are here waiting at the airport, but because it the Jetblue terminal I am rocking out to the free wifi. W00T! In a few hours we will be in semi-sunny Florida for a longish weekend with the girls family, sort of an early x-mass.

Because it was my last day before vacation I of course had to go to court. Seems the last 3 or 4 times, my last day before vacation I always end up getting called to testify. Weird! But court went fine, went with another chemist and since the detective had to come and pick up the evidence he gave us a ride into the city. Which was nice, plus he was fun to talk to. He’s been working in Manhattan for 20+ years so he had some good stories/info, like for people selling crack they usually have a “regulars/residents” price, which these days is going around 10$ a bag, but if you look out of place or something they will charge you more and pocket or smoke the difference. Funny…odd…

anyway girl and I are going to throw in a DVD I suppose and wait for our flight.

It’s that time again…

Seems that I have been only updating on Sundays last few weeks. Mostly because not much exciting has been doing on these last few weeks. The latest thing at work is I am being temporarily transfered to the the Case Management Unit while still working in the Trace evidence section. It’s a temporary transfer, mostly until the training for the Explosives analysis work starts. It should be an interesting change if nothing else, learning a little more about how everything at the lab works and what not.

Come Thursday however, the girl and I are heading to Fl to a little mini-vacation. See her family (and dogs) for an early Christmas celebration, it should be a nice break from NY I suppose, though its not like I am escaping bitter cold or anything, NY has been unseasonably warm the last few days was like 70 this past Friday…wtf is up with that?

I’ll try and post a bit more often I suppose but I figure fewer posts where I have something to say are better then more pointless ranting that you usually find on the internet. :)
