Watching TV we just saw an add for some “As seen on TV” electric shaver that they are billing as better then a normal three head electric shaver because it has…4 shave heads!!!
All I could think of was This is Spinal Tap:
Nigel: This is a top to a, you know, what we use on stage, but it’s
very…very special because if you can see…
Marty: Yeah…
Nigel: …the numbers all go to eleven. Look…right across the board.
Marty: Ahh…oh, I see….
Nigel: Eleven…eleven…eleven….
Marty: …and most of these amps go up to ten….
Nigel: Exactly.
Marty: Does that mean it’s…louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel: Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten. You see,
most…most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You’re on ten
here…all the way up…all the way up….
Marty: Yeah….
Nigel: …all the way up. You’re on ten on your guitar…where can you go
from there? Where?
Marty: I don’t know….
Nigel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is if we need that extra…push over
the cliff…you know what we do?
Marty: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty: Why don’t you just make ten louder and make ten be the top…
number…and make that a little louder?
Nigel: …these go to eleven.
Happy New Year »« pixel blocks
So yeah obviously we are not still in FL. We got back last Monday. Rest of the week was mostly uneventful. I did get word finally that I will be moving down to the Trace section full time come the first of the year to finish training and work in the evidence processing section. I am looking forward to the move because it will just be easier not split among different units anymore, plus I am now 4th on the vacation pick list instead of like 40th.
Right now the girl and I are at my parents in CT. We drove up Saturday morning and have just been relaxing and hanging out. We went up to Northampton with my parents Sunday and did a little shopping ( I got cool Pixel Blocks ) building set. They are sort of like legos but you cna do 2D or 3D things with them. This morning we went to see Sweeney Todd which I liked but Meg was less then thrilled with. Tonight we are doing Christmas dinner since both my brother and I have to head back to our respective home states and be at work on Wednesday. We still will open gifts tomorrow morning so that should be fun, I have my camera with me so I can take a nice before and after shot of the utter wrapping paper devastation that will be visited on the living room.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

We are still in Florida. Spent yesterday with her dad/step-mom and sister/sisters husband. Â It was 12 hours of fart jokes and sports talk. But it’s over now and after 3 or 4 years of intensive psychotherapy I think I will fully recover!
Today we are doing “Christmas”, going to church this morning and then doing presents and christmas dinner. Meg’s grandmother made a country ham. Mmmm. I do like my ham. Ok I should go be social I guess. Â
Not still in FL »« Way too fast
The holidays normally seem to go by fast but this year it seems even worse. It is already the 12th, tomorrow the girl and I are flying down to FL to visit her family for a few days for an early Christmas, just like we did last year. This time I will have my shiny new camera to bring along. I just hope I don’t end up with Meg stealing it from me and taking 342 pictures of her dog, as tends to happen. We get back to NYC Monday and then just 4 days of the work week and is basically Christmas (well is assuming I get approved for the 24th off, if not it will be a little crazy driving to CT Christmas eve and then back to NYC again Christmas day). Unlike Meg who has the whole Christmas to New Years week off, I am not so lucky. Either way we will do Christmas in CT with my family which will be nice and then get to eat a metric ton of ham and potatoes. Mmmmm.
Still in FL »« St.Nipp
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, except for Nippy…who was eating a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that ST. Nippy soon would be there;

…I heard ser exclaim, ere she slithered out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.â€
Way too fast »« What a time to be alive…
It being the Christmas season and all I had a hankering to hear the “You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch” song. I found a mp3 on the net, but also saw in the search results there was a Brian Setzer version. So I wondered how many versions of the song there could be and did a quick search on the Itunes store to see. There are no less then 55 hits for the grinch song, done by almost as many different artists. They range from straight re-recoring to to the down right bizarre. Aimee Mann is one of the few women singers, and there is even an instrumental version by the US Air force Band!
St.Nipp »« First snow/Christmas Tree
We had our first snow today:
Needless to say Meg was quite excited. For a Florida/southern girl she really does love the snow. Though we will see how much she loves it when she has to walk to work in it later this winter
Due to the snow we mostly just stayed in today. I did go food shopping but other then that it was a relaxing day at home. I took this opportunity to break out our Christmas decorations and set up our Christmas tree.
Here is Meg “helping” hang ornaments…her way…which she claims is faster but I just don’t know:
Here is the finished product, which I have to say for a 20$ tree from the dollar store has held up alright for the last 4 seasons:

And just because I can’t get enough playing with my new camera here is our Christmas Tree in the Matrix:
