I had to go to court today in Manhattan on a drug case. Granted I no longer do drug cases but I guess the wheels of justice can sometimes turn slowly so I may have the occasional need to testify on cases I did a year or two back. The timing worked out great though, because it meant I was down by Foley Square across from the courts in time for Obama’s inauguration. They had a big video screen set up and I ended up spending my lunch hour standing outside in the cold with a few hundred other people watching him take the oath of office.

It was actually a lot of fun to get to watch with a crowd, and every one cheered as he took the oath and laughed when, while talking about his plans to you know not torture prisoners any more because the world expects better os us, the cameras cut to now ex-president GW Bush.
After Obama gave his speech it was time for me to head over to court and meet with the DA, which was a good thing because until I started walking I didn’t really realize how cold I had gotten standing there for an hour. First stop when I got to the court was a nice hot coffee.
Slow time of year »« Cold
In spite of the cold we decided to go out to the mall in LI for a little shopping trip. Hit the IKEA there and got a new set of drawers for the kitchen. Very exciting I know. We also got a set of plastic bins to replace the recycling bin, which should be pretty handy.
No real plans for the rest of the weekend. I have Monday off as well which is extra nice. If only it wasn’t so damn cold! I had though to go into the City with Meg but I really don’t want to walk around Manhattan in 10 degree weather.
Inauguration day »« KHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The girl and I are being lazy today. I worked yesterday but got out at 2. I quickly ran out to go grocery shopping because a few inches of snow had been predicted but ended up being more a disappointment then anything. We got a little but I would say less than an inch and now its more just a mess of ice. Still better not to HAVE to go out but I could easily of if I had to.
So one of the ‘new years resolutions’ is to try and get a handle on the whole wedding thing. We talked some this morning about it but other than “something small” we didn’t get too far. I guess it’s a start but we do need to pin something a bit more concrete down even if it IS just “when do you want to go down to city hall?” sort of planning. Not that THAT is what we are going to do but it is an option if trying to plan what we want gets too crazy/drama filled.
…Or there is always Vegas!
