Christmas is over. We had a nice time the last few days spending the holiday up in CT with my family. I took Christmas Eve off so and we loaded up the car with gifts and the cat and drove up after work on Wednesday. Christmas Eve it self we ran out and did a little last minute shopping before coming back home and having a snack and alcohol filled x-mas eve. My sister and her BF had brought rock band and Beatles rock band for Wii and we had a good time playing that. Later we watched the traditional Muppets Christmas Carol. Later that night we ended up going out to midnight mass.
Christmas morning was nice. Everyone gathered around the tree opening gifts. I got some neat stuff (Monkey wall calendar and dinosaur coffee mug where they turn into dinosaur skeletons when you add hot stuff) My sister got Meg and I “his and her” towels with the “his and hers” denoted on the towels by XY and XX. Awesome! Last night we ran out to the movies to see Sherlock Holmes. Was nice mindless entertainment.
No real plans for today. We may brave the mall, we have a Williams Sanoma gift card to use and the after Christmas sales may make it worth going. Plus we really don’t have much else to do today.
boring »« Trip to the city.
Given we didn’t have any plans yesterday I was able to talk Meg into a trip into the city. We hit the Union Square Holiday market which has grown quite a bit since last year. Had quite a few interesting booths but nothing we had to have. I did get a hot cider and really good cider doughnuts. Meg was most excited when she got to feed a squirrel a piece of doughnut and it ate it right out of her hand. It was really cute how excited she was after and totally made the day of the lady that was sitting across from us in the park.
We also stopped into the Strand and Meg of course was able to find a few books
About the only thing that would make me ever want to get a Kindel or other ebook reader is that ebooks don’t pile up in our appt.
I also made my Christmas chocolate peanut butter fudge yesterday. We have a holiday party at work tomorrow so that was my contribution. This was a Christmas treat weekend I guess since Friday I made a few batches of Rum Balls that will be part of my Christmas gifts for people. Everything seemed to come out good, now the trick is just not eating it all before I can give them out.
No real plans for today. Got to do the usual shopping and laundry. Next weekend we may go and do Old Bethpage Village, they do candle light tours in the winter for the holidays. May try and drag Chelsea and Brett along with us if they are free.
Speaking of laundry I should go get stuff together.
